Sorry for writing this in English but my guess is your English is better than my German anyway hehe.

I am currently busy, or pretty much done at this moment, building a new site around the clansphere CMS. The only drawback I have at this moment is that my clan has been around for 5 years and our forum is quite large and often used.

So my dilemma quite obviously is to either link to the forum from the cms/template (meaning there will be two seperate user DB's as well as area's for the public to be in). Or I can chose to drop the forum, which is not an option.

So my question is, is there a way to intergrate either the topic and forum structure database? Or (preferably) a way to link or combine the forum user tables with that of clansphere?

Thanks in advance,

If you have some experince in PHP, i can give you some experimental scripts to convert a phpbb Forum to the Clansphere CMS.
The script converts users, boards, threads and posts.

Way one:
Install clansphere.
Edit the config.php
copy the tables: phpbb_users, phpbb_forums, phpbb_topics, phpbb_posts, phpbb_posts_text from phpbb DB to your clansphere DB
start the script user.php
At the end of the list you find a link to the next step.
If all scripts are finished you can delete the phpbb tables.

Way two:
Install clansphere in the same database where your phpbb Forum is installed
edit the config.php
start the script user.php
At the end of the list you find a link to the next step.
If all scripts are finished you can delete the phpbb tables.

The scripts are testet with:
phpBB Ver. 2.0.19
threads: ~2500
posts: ~30000

Use this scripts at your own risk !!

Hey Nerv,

Thanks for the info . And there is nothing wrong with your english at all. I'll have a look at it the coming weekend.

But I have one question, our forum has 1100 registered users, 70039 posts and, 6484 topics at this moment. Do you think I should just give it a shot? Or do you say it's no use to try it because it won't work. Ah yeah and plus I am running 2.0.22 at this moment.

And what about just trying to copy the user database and keeping the forum seperated? Will that have any effect regarding cookies etc? Because I suppose the CS cookie differs from the phpbb one right?

But once again thanks .

A difficult part may be the topics, because the script copy the forums and the topics in one step.
Posts are convert in cycles, 1000 posts each step, so there are no problems with the 30s limit.

If you only copy the user tabbles, there are no problems with cookies, because CS use a different cookie name than the phpbb Board. If you didnt run the clean.php you can find the phpBB userid in the CS users table in the colum users_hight.

You must test it,
if there are problems with the topics, i can split the script or rebuild it, to copy topics also in cycles.

Good to hear .

One thing I was aiming at is, if someone logs in on CS, or the forum, to then move towards the forum or cs (depending whichever you logged at first).

Will you be logged in? Because CS and the forum use different cookies that would result in the login status not being interchangable right? Although many people like myself are always logged in on the forum regardless. But I think you get my point .

You are right,
In phpBB and CS you must seperate login.
There is no "easy" way to login in to the systems with one login.
